Nancy Goldin

Nancy "Nan" Goldin was born on September 12, 1953, Washington, D.C. She is an American photographer.
Goldin was born in Washington, D.C., and grew up in the Boston, Massachusetts suburb of Lexington, to middle class Jewish parents whose ideas, moderately liberal and progressive, were put to the test when on April 12, 1965 their eldest daughter Barbara Holly, at the age of eighteen, committed suicide.

I actually can't distinguise if these are women or men. It's the faces that throw
me off. The one on the left, the face looks quite masculine, and on the right,
the face looks feminine enough, but her dress is drooping a little, so I can see
that nothing is filling that dress.
I think this image represents mans possesion of women or thought that they are their property, I say this because as you can see there is a man's arm is around the woman's waist, but you can't see the man, only shadows. But it is kinda confussing, because the arm also looks like it's coming out of the woman's side, this could be a example of true love, man and woman as one, but then the lighting is poor and for it to look like true love, I think it should have bright lighting, no shadows. But this is another reason why I think my first suggestion is more likely.
